You seen to make the spike elevator harder than what it should be, lol. I always just wait, run forward, and then slide. Although, you didn't do it quite right, haha. It gets rid of the risk of jumping into the spikes. Also, I've never seen that glitch either, but I have seen Zuschzero's video showing what happens without the clouds and what happens if you put a ceiling, and even spikes in it's place, haha.
