@grandspazmachine Yes, it is a Stanton 681EEEcartridge.
-
is that a Stanton 681EEE cardridge?

@LedWilde I noticed the slowed pitch too. I thought it was me. lol.
-
I think it's a little slower too. Every version I hear, even the one in the movie Carrie, the pitch is a little higher and plays a little faster. Either way, this is a great song no matter what speed you listen to it.
-
Oh, and I'm not trying to bitch but your turntable does run slow... I know all about pitch matching and such, but sometimes songs are played in a different key live (often just a half step off from the original).
The main thing here is that Martha's voice sounds completely unnatural - a bit more like a robot than a human. ;)

I was just about to ask this question, but I see that it's already been asked. Nobody knows? (Robert White, Joe Messina, and Eddie Willis were all there virtually the entire time in Detroit.)

Way to go Martha and the Vandellas!!! rock on!!! 60s rock forever!!

hey all you wannabe video camera people !! take a tip from a PROFESSIONAL TV CAMERAMAN;; if you are going to take pictures of your records and post them here, DON'T , DON'T, DON'T hold the camera in your hand !! you weave and shake all over like Elvis Presley. Your picture weaves and moves all over the place. Put your camera on a tri-pod , focus and set your shot ,, THEN poll your camera and then do your edit and then post it . It'll look better and you'll be happier with it . CHEERS !!!!!!

Same label on 45's my brother had. To this tempo we did a South Street or a variation on sloptime, if you're from Philly you know the dances.Slightly uptempo, was our church dance's final dance contest song.

Love it thank you

@Bankman58 is this how the song really sounded in 1963 cause I listened to the live version of this from 1964 on vinyl.That honestly sounded more like it were from 1963 than this were sounds more newer.

@suportable Thanks for your comment, suportable. I adjusted the pitch of the turntable to bring the music to the key which it was written and as you said, when you compared it to the live version, it sounds the same, because the musicians are playing in the same key of 'D'.

Your video proves exactly why those of us raised on records have not, and likely never will, become totally captured by CDs. There's something far more psychologically satisfying about WATCHING the record spin while listening, and the stylus traveling across its surface than watching a bloodless ticking off of minutes and seconds on a CD player's puny window. This is even truer in the case of 45s if the record player is a high-end stacking automatic.

@dvlaries Hey dvlaries! Thanks for your comment. I totally agree with you about vinyl records. I was always fascinated watching them spin around on the turntable. I think that's the reason why record companies designed their labels the way they did.
