  • Whilst writing this great song,Sonny Curtis did a rush job...hence,"second verse...same as the first" It wasn't until about 10yrs later that Sonny actually performed the second verse on one of his great Viva label albums.

  • brilliant !!!!!

  • Almost no harmonies! Mostly unison! It's like the anti-Everlys!!!

  • No matter what song Bobby sings, it`s Brill !!! I am not saying it`s any better than Don and Phil`s version but he sure has his own style/sound. However, another fine acoustic version of this song, is by the great "Sonny Curtis" who also wrote it. Has anybody got "Sonny`s acoustic version? I believe it was on his album "Sonny Curtis and Friends" Most of the songs are his own well known compositions, including the first song he ever wrote, I think it`s called "Silvery Moon........

  • I used to ask people my age (53) if they remember this album or this group. No one seems to remember. My father purchased this and Meet The Beatles. My sister and I never understood why since he only liked Spanish music.

  • Having the Ventures as a back up band is like Linda Ronstadt having the Eagles as hers. This is one of my favorite albums as it shows the aranging talents that the Ventures were famous for. Look at the original version of Walk Don't Run written by Johnny Smith and see what they did to it! Extremely creative.

  • A fine colladeration between both stars on the same label I have the original "audition" yellow label on vinyl. Still sounds great after all these years.

  • @Ninekitties I found a sealed copy of this is in a garage sale for 30 cents

  • The Ventures went to Japan for the very first time with Bobby Vee, as you sure know. I agree that this was a wonderful combo.

  • @leeraemarie Bobby and the Shadows did not do anymore dates on that tour. He is healthy and still performs!
