How do you get a 3000 lb plaster jacket out of the field and back to the museum? You hire a Huey helicopter. This video is from the field season of 2009. The Museum of the Rockies had a very successful summer, and was finishing the field season by picking up all the fossils they'd found. This was taken at the very beginning of a long, exhausting but exciting day! If you notice a black stripe on the hills at around 2:30, it's the K/Pg boundary- the coal horizon that marks the extinction of the dinosaurs! I'm in the front passenger seat, on the right. The day's agenda included picking up triceratops skulls and duckbilled dinosaur skeletons!
