Metal Detecting America brings you Episode 3. Correction on Video is says 1935 when in fact it is actually an 1835 park. I was metal detecting a local park that was donated to the village of Plainfield in 1835. There are events there every year like the annual Plainfield Festival. There are carnival rides and fun booths set up all over the place, so this makes for a good place to detect year round.
The outside edges about 10-15 feet from the curb are the best places to hunt for treasures using your metal detector because fill dirt was hauled in beyond those points making the older coins unretrievable because of the extra added depth.

  • Bought a cheap metal detector off of Craigslist yesterday for $35 and tried it out in the park. I forgot to bring a shovel and water, and I had to stop after 30 min because it was so hot.

All I found were 4 bullets and a penny.
