LITTLE ROCK A special commemoration was held in the State Capital Rotunda to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the birth of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Governor Beebe was joined by members of the Legislative Black Caucus, the MLK Commission, and hundreds of guests from the community. Music was provided by the jazz ensemble from Martin Luther King Elementary School.

In his remarks, Gov. Beebe spoke of Dr. Kings enduring legacy and his tireless journey towards civil rights and social justice for all, a journey that Gov. Beebe reminded the guests we are all still undertaking. The commemoration is especially significant this year as our nation prepares to inaugurate President-Elect Barack Obama, which marks an incredible milestone along the road toward perfecting Dr. Kings Dream.
