  • I watched for awhile, too, but it was really, really cold out there. My hat's off to those who were out there in that cold all day to pull this off.

  • Thanks! It was freezing cold, but it was fun to do and I liked how it turned out.

  • Im actually a tech working at that site, Ive been working there since last summer and to think that the massive church was moved that distance just blows my mind. I have to work under that church (thats now a Law Library) and its amazing the cuts they made in order to move that thing. Its just amazing. Oddly enough, the project is scheduled to be completed in mid June.

  • @alchemyofsalem And you didn't know? I believe the reason for moving this unused Church, was new developments around it so it then stood in the way. Also the library was bursting with books so If they could move it 100yards down a hill to the Courthouse it could become the new library. They faced all sorts of problems inc freezing cold and always a danger of collapse. Church had to be lifted off its foundations, then insert crossed steel beams, 26 jacks & 280 wheels! Amazing engineers (Dave UK)

  • to build a $100 million dollar court complex.

  • I visited Salem for two weeks and loved it! I saw this building after it was moved. It's amazing that they can move such a historic, masonry structure with such care.

  • Tigger, your dad helped move that? cool! Please tell him thanks for taking such good care on moving it so wonderfully. RealAtmospherical, what is the music? Thanks again!
