Academy of St. Marin in the Fields
Sir Neville Marriner

Debussy orchestrated only Gymnopédies I and III.
Do somebody know of any orchestration of Gymnopédie II?

  • Academy of St. Marin in the Fields/Sir neville Marriner. I have this copy as well.

  • Wonderful! Fist time hearing the orchestration of this. Thanks for sharing.

  • Debussy didn't orchestrate No. 2 cos he believed it didn't lend itself to being orchestrated. It was orchestrated much later by other composers.

  • No. 2 to me is very bland. I've always believed that Debussy didn't like it either. Great minds think alike. LOL!

  • The oboe ia definitely not American - sounds French to me - English oboists usually have a wider vibrato. I heard this same version on another posting, if that helps.

  • Goodness, what a beautiful video.

  • Bellissima musica e molto bella l'idea del video! Grazie

  • Bellissima !
