Celtic Mayhem perform "The Moonshiner" during the 2009 St. Patrick's Day Celebration at Maguire's Hill 16 Irish Pub in Fort Lauderdale Florida. With Ty Billings on vocals and guitar, Martyn Wylde on bass guitar, and Jack Stamates coaxing yet more unusual tones from his violin (there is still some doubt that it is entirely terrestrial in origin).
Acknowledgement of photo credits: Images from internet in opening and closing are of the now-deceased legendary Moonshiner Marvin "Popcorn" Sutton who apparently spent most of his life brewing libations of questionable legality and was rather infamous by the time he past on. His pictures seemed rather iconic of moonshiners in general.
The origins of the song itself appear to be in some dispute, and it is apparently uncertain if it originated in Ireland or America, however numerous performers in both countries have recorded and performed it since at least the 1930s.
I really like this version--it's very exuberant.
