According to U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney in April of 2005, as originally designed, "Many people would not live long enough to become eligible for [Social Security] retirement benefits." That's because while retirement age was 65, life expectancy was only 61. Most would die 4 years before they could even begin to collect.
@KripDrip If the Federal Government left the funds alone then there would be revenue to disburse.

if rich people had the choice not to pay for social security, then there would be no money in it

@KripDrip Since everyone wants to be fair nowadays...How about Social Security being a choice???

@deficithawker That's what happens when you trust the government to keep your money for you and pay you back. They do what any sensible person would predict them to. They loot the program.

it has become abundantly clear that we now have a dumb commie/hippie college kid in the White House.

so does this mean you want there to be no taxes and no government? Like Somalia!

@siyotekontara Ok.. I will have to repeat myself. The government will never give you more than what they stole from you. If they do then they are stealing from the next generation. People can't save yes but you imply that the government can. LOL ROLF. And when you talk about greedy speculators that sounds like a liberal fairy tale for evil people who try to make money as oppose to good people who are given money from other working people.

@siyotekontara I got a better idea. Instead of stealing your money and paying you back a portion of it let you keep all of your money. When You pay someone to steal you money you have to pay the thieves who steal (IRS) and the hired robin hood (SSA) to give you back what they stole. It's far more efficient to let you keep your money, you can handle it better than the government anyway.
