thumbs up if u think sabino4184 is really Rudy the instructor on Radio...hehe

@monkey298 Even if is a down wind, there would be no problem if you would have pulled at the right moment. The mistake was that you pulled at the wrong momment. The instroctor never told you to pull before. He did it right ou did it wrong couse you took action without any instroction. Dont you say it was his falt becouse it was not.

While it was the instructors fault that the student went downwind I don't believe I heard that instructor tell the student to flare 30ft above the ground. That hard landing was his own fault...not the instructors.

Flared way too high. OUCH!! Legs? Who needs legs??

Stop trying to blame someone else for your mistakes. It was not the "worst talk down ever". Tried to turn you into the wind. Also, could have said "Hands half way up", not "No. No.", but that's all that could have been improved on. 1. Turn Left (didn't do it) 2. Turn Left (didn't) 3. Turn Left (didn't) 4. Turn Left (didn't) 5. Turn Left (didn't) 6. Turn Left (didn't) 7. Turn Left (didn't) 8. Turn Left (didn't) 9. Turn Left (didn't) 10.Put feet together (did it) 11.Flared High (not instructed)

when he says left,is left!!! it was too late to land upwind!

Do the 'chicken run' just before you hit the ground; that helps quite a bit!

i know that this video was posted a year ago and you probably learned your lesson but remember A smooth flare over about three to four seconds will work better than a fast, hard flare. You would get a better chance to time it...u flared extremely fast and held it...if you flare early go back up to half breaks and flare again...im not saying the talk down was good either and am not sure why he had you land downwind but we only see a portion of the video...blue skies

I shouldnt laugh but its always funny watching someone spud in lol

did everything the instuctor said PLUS deciding to flare at 35 feet.
granted it was a down-wind landing ..for what ever reason (perhaps bad radio instructions.. or not being able to hear and make correct turns up higher to put the jumping into the wind...) I know I have talked down 100's of students that didn't do what I wanted them to do.. and by the time they got down to 150-200 feet.. they are on final ...and nothing but tiny correction turns are to be made by student on radio at that point
I kinda doubt you would have stalled the canopy if you had just held it.

@ShakyBones797 i did hold it. It would have been far worse if i didn't.

Was that a downwind landing?
Quagmirian 5 months ago
@Quagmirian Yes, it was. I guess the guy talking me down on the radio thought it was a good idea.

@monkey298 What the fuck was the instructor thinking? Not only is he massively unclear when it is most important, but he decides to make you land downwind?
Quagmirian 5 months ago
@Quagmirian Yeah, i almost think he didn't like me or something haha.... my 1st jump was such a good landing i almost stood up... this was my 2nd one, needless to say i never let him do radio for me EVER again!! I would definately say after cutting away on my tenth jump, having somebody telling me 2 land WITH the wind & then screaming NO NO NO NO NO on the radio after i flared 2 high was the scariest thing i went through in AFF. Im sooo glad i got my license now and i can do whatever I want!! :)
