The Columbian Exposition of 1893 was one of the greatest attractions of all time. At a time when the population of the country was 63 million the city of Chicago hosted 27 million fair goers. An entire temporary city of more than 200 buildings built on the quick. Designed by some of the countries leading architechs. Presenting for the first time ever the Ferris wheel an enormous structure with gondolas the size of train cars.
The entire event and the mad race to make it happen are captured in "The Devil and The White City". Along with Dr. HH Holmes a serial killer that operated in the midst of it all. It is a story well worth reading or listeing to. In this clip we present a series of pictures from the fair. They can found on the Brooklyn Museum page on Flicker and are in Public Domain.

Thanks. Would be helpful if some of these photos identified the buildings.
