Bah! On a scale of one to ten, I'd say we're about a 1 1/2. hehe But I think once the base preps are complete and you've got a good foundation to work on, it seems to start going a lot easier. I have to say, I think the hardest part about preparing is the "getting started". Even the motivation is a real doozy sometimes, for some people, but in this day and age, I would think 5 minutes of watching CNN or FOX would do the trick!

That's good you're preparing, but there is something that will catch us all off guard, something they're planing, 1 little action, which hurts no one but turns off power to millions of people. Canadians have experience similar evens, and so have the Norwegians.
I'm not sure if they'll go through with their power disruption plans, but meh, you never know.

What steps must be taken when the scooter & car have been cleaned out of gas, & abandoned vehicles & gas stations' supplies have all been deleted, yet the grid still remains powerless? That's my concern, hence the rush to get in the solar setup. I think this will most likely be more than a few days or weeks. For some, including our area, this could be months. A few years ago we were power-less for 6 days. Puts a bit of a spin on things, to think longer-term. I want to try a 7-day trial now!.

IF things get that bad, where there's no electricity and no gasoline, I'd still probably have a job. If there's any fuel at all, public transit will still be running in some form and they'll still need people to fix those buses. If that closes too, that's when I move to my rural bug out location. (a relative's house, way out in the sticks, that I've already stocked with 6 months of food). I'd use their truck and move my supplies and deck garden there. I'd hate to leave my nice condo though.

6 months of living, a BO location and a plan, to boot! Mr. Prepared, to the teeth! Very, VERY wise. Lots of lessons for the newly "awake" to be learned from you. Awesome!
