I'm mixed as well, my father is black and my mother is Panamanian(her mom is spanish/indian, her dad asain/white, so she is very light skinned). When i was younger i was very light skinned, and people accused my dad of not being my father, even in his family. My grandmother claimed my mom had slept with someone else, because i was so light.

vous êtes une fille très jolie! When I was a child I used to say to people who asked, because they ALL asked, that I was mixed, not knowing any better. It was a word that I was taught by the ignorant people around me. As an adult, I realize that the only thing "mixed" in my life is the alcohol in my drink. I am Human and American. If I need to "define" myself in those terms, then those are the only terms I need. It works for all of us! Human first, nationality (place of birth) next! That's all!
