Hurricane Katrina Eyewall Part 2

I shot this video from the top deck of the parking garage in Gulfport, Mississippi. The eyewall was finally coming ashore and I was hiding in the far stairwell. When I looked around the corner, all I could see was a swirling mass of white - a tornado was about 30 feet from me. It took me a minute to realize that it was being created by the hurricane winds coming around the side of the bank.

I thought it may be cool to be in a hurricane down south...but after seeing this...NO WAY...thats freaking scary...I live in Halifax and we get cat 2 hurricanes...check out Hurricane Bill Peggys cove...this is in halifax,,,waves are huge

I've been to Halifax for a couple of hurricanes - Noel and Bill. I've got some incredible wave footage at Peggy's Cove on my channel. I've never seen waves as big as that day in my life - they'd hi the rock and jump around 100-120 feet in the air. The whole ground was shaking.

I rode this storm out about 6 blocks from where this was taken. Sounded like we had a 747 in the back yard. Wouldn't have missed it for the world though...

this is an amazing shot!  the way u can see the rain hitt the concrete really lets u know how fast the wind is actually moving
