I saw him play is some shitty little bar here in Ireland 2 years ago. Nobody else even knew who he was, they were just there drinkin. I was singin along to all the songs and got to back him up on this song. Great memories. Even had a few beers with him after. :-)

Ａｗ what a beautiful song I ever heard! I am listening nanci's version almost every day and I really wanted to hear original varsion! BTW, I am Japanese, So i cant listen what he sing.
So I have a question. can you guys understad what he sing completely? This is not kidding I'm serious！I can hardly believe native English speakes could understand every single words this song correctly without lyrics paper. PLEASE tell me can you? or not? and one more Question. Is this song about what?

This is just so great. I love this song. And you can see Nanci Griffith getting lost in the song. She later recorded this on her "Other Voices, Other Room" album, which is one of her very best.
