@Blakey6678 well since the Regiment is part of the Canadian Forces I think the statement is valid.

@macadavy It is Memorial day but also Canada day. I've never seen Canada day not celebrated home. When Memorial day was founded it was before Confederation of course.

'The Banks of Newfoundland' is the quick march of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment.
July 1, 1916 the first day of the Battle of the Somme: "The eight hundred and one men from the 1st Newfoundland Regiment marched onto the battlefield from the reserves and only 68 made it out unharmed with over 500 of 801 dead. This one day of fighting had snuffed out a major portion of an entire generation of Newfoundlanders."
That is why July 1 in Newfoundland is not Canada Day, but Memorial Day. 'Nuff said!

@tango0902 Sadly no, i am a piper myself it goes to high up on the scale.... I wish it could though there really isnt many Newfoundland tunes that can be played exept some traditional Irish tunes.
