@x2b0y I hadn't thought of that but it looks like you and the dog did. Actually the biggest spark danger would be from the drill. Ever used a cordless drill in the dark? It's like a mini fireworks show. It's the vapours not the liquid that would be the danger from the Kerosene.

With kerosene being a fuel source and there being various metal on metal contact and therefor the chance of a spark isn't this dangerous?

@TheBicycleGeek any hardware store should have it. Canadian Tire for me, but Home Depot or the like should also have it.

One way this would probably work better is if you used a deeper container and held a wire brush at the top of the sprocket.

can i use oil out of my dirt bike bike that is used to clean my chain?

@themadbuzzer that won't CLEAN it, but I know guys that lube their chain with recycled oil. Clean it with a stiff brush (toothbrush works great) and kerosene, then lube it with your old dirt bike oil.
