Here's a first person view of the strategy, as many are struggling to get the timing right or knowing exactly where to aim. I apologize ahead of time of my lack of editing skills with Sony Vegas, but the video should get the point across. Good luck to all those that attempt to break thor's tongue!

Actually it takes 11 direct hits for the tongue to break off. I'll post a video response of ezdi and I duoing thor. If it hits the back part of the tongue due to a late shot then it won't count as a hit.

When jumping down to the safe spot, set a time for your group to jump off at at the same time. For example, tell your group to jump off at [59:30] on the timer. This will prevent players from having the wrong camera angle when they spawn at the bottom.

It is also crucial that every player should be sitting at the safe spot ASAP as the cutscene ends. Only the spearer should be standing. If a player is a bit behind then Thor will not stay in place. Also note that if a player is sitting in front of the spearer the spear may hit the player sitting down which could lead to failed runs. To prevent this try to sit around the spearer to prevent mistakes from happening.

Also remember to take a couple steps back when throwing spears. As every throw you do, your character will slide a bit closer to the water which will let Thor loose if you get hit by the Lightning's AoE attack.

  • @ImaginedCA True but the way we do it doesn't really take that much longer. And even if we did restart it'd happen again, and all those restarts add up which can make it just as long.

  • @Kanzaki415 Nevertheless, thank you for your input on getting Thor stuck in a different location. I'd personally prefer to restart as it doesn't take much time. Plus, having a guideline for his tongue is a lot more comfortable if you're more used to the same positions, which in effect would speed up the time required spearing the tongue which leads to more productive raids.

  • @Kanzaki415 Be more clear please when you quote. Plus if you're going for a thor break off run, it's easier to just trio/quad it. It takes less than 1 min to die and restart the boat. Also if you even bothered to read my description I clearly stated that there are no other first person views of the breakoff with clear instructions.(totalshadow0's was in 3rd person & used annotation boxes to mark spots which can be inaccurate) I'm not seeking for any e-peen or any gratitude as this is a tutorial

  • @ImaginedCA Now your talking irrelevant. I was answering to the "The time it takes to get him to respam the AoE... it's better to restart" that you responded with, hence a hiccup in the beginning safe zone doesn't require to restart a boat, which will take 3mins-ish to relaunch/reform/load. If we have our party, I'll record the 2nd strategy if rake messed up. I never commented about your spearing or your replica tutorial (ie. totalshadow0) Constructive criticism, not e-peen please.

  • @Kanzaki415 seems like you take a while to break :P shouldn't take that long to aim at his tongue o_o

  • @Kanzaki415 I got him stuck within the first second? o_o

  • @ImaginedCA The strategy we do only takes 30 secs for him to get stuck =O (Apart of NekoKila's guild) Maybe have a video posted of it later =3
