I am proud to say that in Ontario, Canada we no longer have pet stores that sell dogs - but I'm sure the bastards are still out there - I only wish I had more money to take in dogs with medical issues - I think what you have shown here is both heart breaking and awesome - as I sit with my two spoiled rotten rescue dogs - I pray that it reaches as many people as possible and is a force to end the cruelty - God Bless You!!

Pet stores don't necessarily get their puppies from puppy mills... I know from experience that some stores have lengthy evaluations and follow ups to ensure that their puppies don't come from mills. If those standards aren't met, that breeder is dropped. Remember that breeders need the pet store's business, not the other way around.

Also, uneducated people can easily adopt from a puppy mill without knowing it because they don't know what to look for.

I have a min pin named Shylow who we rescued from a pre-mature puppy mill 6 years ago. The puppy mill had just started and didn't have all the holes blocked in one of their fences. Shylow, being so small. would escape from the hole and hide in a neighbors yard. We found him hiding behind some garbage cans, shaking, skinny and scared. He wasn't neutered, his testicles never dropped and he had ear mites. Now he is a healthy chunky old man living out his days sleeping under the covers of a warm bed

I only take rescue dogs ...and usually the ones no one else wants,,,I currently have a catahoula pit mix and as you can imagine she is a handfull.....but she is an awesome dog...

Even if you buy a purebred, it could still be from a puppy mill.

Poor kitties are also treated terribly! I am a proud owner of 3 cats who were dumped into the streets as kittens. One was about to be euthanized, but I couldn't watch him die. The other 2 were never vaccinated, they suffered for a while. When they came into my care they became happy, vaccinated cats that are healthy and away from pain. Let's hope that all animals, dogs and cats, receive health and happiness from good owners, far from abuse and poverty.
