Life in Spring Texas by Jill Wente and Rick Ratchford, Spring Texas Realtors .... http://DiscoverSpringTexas.com

A tour of HEB Vintage Market. HEB are the initials of Howard E Butt. The Butts got their start in the grocery business over 100 years ago in Kerrville TX. Today there are over 300 HEB stores.
The average size of an HEB grocery is around 85,000 sqft. While the HEB Vintage Market store is 115,000 square feet which means a larger selection and a greater variety of products. So let's go in and take a look around.
As soon as you enter the doors, you see this massive produce area of over 900 items with not just varietal of a grape or an apple but several. And there is an organic produce section with over 100 items.
Café on the Run is a Central Market themed restaurant. Featuring numerous prepared food items including pasta salads, chicken salads, potato salads, salmon, green beans, wraps, pecan crusted chicken, lasagna, meat loaf, and dips. I highly recommend the Love Dip. The Love Dip was created by the Chefs of Central Market for Valentine's Day. It is a creamy combination of garlic, tomato, cream cheese, and mayonnaise. Watch out for the garlic ... sometimes it comes across a little strong.
Our next stop is at the in-store bakery, where cakes and breads are made from scratch daily. The cakes are beautifully decorated but it's the numerous varities of bread from asiago cheese, to sourdough, to whole grain, three seed, asiago cheese, cranberry and pistachio, and kalamata olive that amaze me.

Where's smell a vision when you need it.
Sushi -- Now if you are a sushi lover like I am, you have probably purchased sushi in a grocery store but later wished you hadn't. The good news is that won't be your experience with this sushi. I have sampled and purchased numerous sushi rolls from the HEB Vintage Market and they have always been fresh and delicious.
Next to the produce area is the Fish Market with a counter that is 3x the size of the average fish market counter. And the fish .... Well they actually look fresh ... not like the slimy fish you see in some grocery stores that make you want to never eat fish again.
Cooking Connection - Stop by the cooking connection for a demonstration of a new receipe and a sample. The receipes are packed with flavor, not very complicated, and usually can be prepared quickly which is something I certainly like.
Cheese -- With over 400 cheeses to choose from HEB is able to satisfy my desire for all kinds of cheese be it a pugenent blue, to a fontina, to a nutty grueye, to a smoky cheddar or a rosemary infused parma reggiano.
Wine and Beer -- There are over 2,000 varities of wine and 200 beers to choose from. And with the free wine tastings on Fridays and Saturdays you may discover a wine that will become your new favorite.
Canned goods ... the HEB Vintage Market as those too. They have the brands and the products you are familiar with plus the hard to find products that other grocery stores don't carry.

The HEB Vintage Market is one of the many great things to discover about Spring Texas.
