Actually you're right on; the original Nintendo power glove was ideal for the sensor glove.
Granted, the glove is the most uncomfortable thing EVER to wear, and the sensors that came in the glove were useless (I inserted my own flavor of sensors in their place).

Hello, I think that is a great project, and I´d like to know what kind of motors did you use?, I'm doing something similar but I'm using some Stepping Motors. thnaks

airtronics coreless servos.
back in the day these were some of the fastest, most powerful servos you could buy.
Now there are several servos which are both smaller, faster and provide more torque than these.
