  • @cgsilverscreen2020

It was a popular game, co-production of EBU with various channels around Europe. Started in 1965 but finished in 1999 due to high costs. Called Jeux sans frontieres, in english Games without borders. Each country was represented by a city.

  • Oh the game was great, why don't exist anymore??

  • Because of the cost, it was too expensive for the television producers...

And thats why 1999 was the very last year of JSF

  • @ioannisgr It doesn't mean anything, Rhodes finished first having more points than Patra. The fact that Eger ginished first as well didn't change anything or reduced the success of both the teams.

  • You're correct but the official rule was : the team with the most points goes to the finals. So it was not possible for Patra to qualify...

  • Rhodes, the Greek entry won at the end, but they tied with Hungary's Eger with 62 pts, if I'm not mistaken. It was the first Greek victory since our first participation in 1993. However, a second victory soon came, by the team of Patras, in Malta if I'm not mistaken, which did not tie, yet they were not chosen to represent Greece in the finals, as they got 58 pts. I always thought that was unfair, since Patras's win was clearer, as only winners.
