Phil plays Tableaux de Provence mvt.1,2,3 for a Master Class held by Jean Marie Londeix at Lawrence University on Sept.22, 2009. This shares with the saxophone community the insight that the great saxophonist and educator Jean Marie Londeix has on the world of music. Professor Londeix's long career includes acting as Professor of Saxophone at the Bordeaux Conservatory and Dijon conservatory, performing in concert countless times, and making definitive recordings of some of the saxophone's finest literature. Jean Marie Londeix premiered Tableau de Provence in the late 1950's, and personally knew Paule Maurice. As with so much else in the classical saxophone genre, he is unequaled in his knowledge and experience. He premiered the Dubois concerto; the Denisov Sonate, the Murgier Concerto; Tableaux de Provence; Noda Improvisations; and amazingly to me performed "Scaramouche" with Darius Milhaud conducting. Due to Youtube time restrictions, this video is posted in 2 parts. This is part 2 of 2. Be sure to view part 1 of 2 to enjoy the presentation of Jean Marie Londeix. The Londeix biography and Private Collections CD set is available at Amazon and I and highly recommend both as being essential to the classical saxophonist.
