@blackmore4 I kind of remember that being the case in the jargon of the "scene" at the time. But it wasn't used much or for very long and Bruce Robinson I think went a little over the top by including it - especially since the script is so brilliant anyway that it wasn't really needed.

@blackmore4 cameraman is right dude - spade has been used a derogatory term for black people for ages - even as late as the 1980s - with the Police Academy films - spade is used as a racial slur.
