Was your child born with a personality? The minute they arrived, did you get a glimpse to their temperament, attitude and characteristics? Maggie Mason said she thought that a child's personality developed over time, but was shocked at just how identifiable her son's personality was when he was born. Dana Loesch agrees and says that their idiosyncrasies are present early on.

So if our children's personality are entirely nature's doing, how does Karen Walrond explain the ways of her adopted daughter, who's incredible vocabulary and reading skills have developed (she hopes impart to her and her husband)?

  • It's a combination of nature and nurture. Children are born with basic personalities, learning patterns and interests. The job of the nurturer is to identify the child's attributes and teach the child how to hone those into something productive.
