  • n the twilight glow I seen her Blue eyes crying in the rain. When we kissed good bye and parted, I knew we'd never meet again. Love is like a dying ember. Only memories remain. And through the ages, I'll remember Blue eyes crying in the rain. Now my heart is silver. All my life I loved in vain. I can see her star in heaven. Blue eyes crying in the rain. Some day when we meet up yonder, We'll stroll hand in hand again; And, in the land that knows no parting, Blue eyes crying in the rain.
  • @MrJNiemzyk It's actually ''hair has turned to silver'', not ''heart is silver''.

  • @jehovahuponyou well i sing this in the shower. if i were to get a band together id start with basic blues and try to build it up to maybe some john schofeild inspired funk. the understanding i have of music is more mathematical i guess for this song, when i sing in the shower its: a melody, the same melody, the same melody, and finally two more times (or however many) so i wouldnt think to call them anything different. i just really like hearing the words to some songs. anyways, cheers!

  • @MrJNiemzyk - ROFL! NOW, IF I MAY, I WILL HAVE FUN:

THE THEOLOGICALLY CORRECT VERSION WOULD BE: "in THE land" - FOR THERE IS BUT ONE SUCH LAND, HEAVEN.

BUT, BEHIND AN SM-58, PLAYING WITH THE METERING OF THE LYRICS, MAKING EM DANCE (ALA, WILLIE, MERLE HAGARD, ETC.) IT IS A WHOLE HELLUVA LOT EASIER TO SING: "in A land" - PRONOUNCED "AH" FOR THE FOLKS ON THE DANCE FLOOR.

NOW, ARE YOU A PREACHER OR A DANCE BAND VOCALIST? - ROFL!

TRY IT BOTH WAYS, WHATEVER WORKS BUDDY, MUSIC IS FOR FUN!

  • @MrJNiemzyk - COOL, THAT WILL WORK.

THE REASON I PLAYED (INSTRUMENTAL BREAK) FOR A VERSE AND CHORUS (ACTUALLY THE SAME THING - BUT ON MY GUITAR I WOULD GO ONE OCTAVE HIGHER FOR WHAT I CALL THE CHORUS) - IS THAT IN DOING SO WOULD LEAD MY VOCALS AND THE BAND RIGHT BACK INTO THE SECOND VERSE.

NOTE HOW WILLIE PLAYS A VERSE ON HIS BEAT UP MARTIN CLASSICAL, WHICH LEADS HIM RIGHT INTO THE LAST CHORUS.

MAKE A SONG YOUR OWN, PUT YOUR STYLE/SIGNATURE TO IT AND HAVE FUN - THAT IS THE MAIN THING!

  • @MrJNiemzyk - "intersting. thanks. i've never really been taught the poetic side of music" YOU ARE VERY WELCOME. I HAVE NOT BEEN TAUGHT EITHER, JUST PLAYED A LOT OF MUSIC IN BARS, VFWs, ETC.

"that's getting a little deep" DEEP IS WHERE YOU LOST ME - ROFL!

WHEN I PLAYED "BLUE EYES" OUT, I DID IT LIKE YOU WERE SAYING: VERSE, CHORUS, LEAD FOR VERSE CHORUS, VERSE, CHORUS - PEOPLE ALWAYS DANCED TO IT, SO THE LONGER THE BETTER.

ALWAYS WIPE YOUR GUITAR DOWN AFTER SHOWER SINGING - ROFL!

  • @jehovahuponyou And, is it "in A land that knows no parting" or "in THE land that knows no parting?"

  • @jehovahuponyou intersting. thanks. i've never really been taught the poetic side of music. in willy's version, where he leaves out the second verse, would that make the original mountain version's second chorus a verse? that's getting a little deep. it's a beautiful song regardless. id love to hear a version where it's swung the way willy does it and has the two verses and choruses. that's the way i've been doing it in the shower!

  • @MrJNiemzyk - NO, YOU ASS (LOL!), I MEAN BY ASKING YOU A QUESTION IN A SNOTTY WAY.

OK, A CHORUS OF A SONG MAY INDEED FOLLOW THE SAME MELODY OF THE VERSES (JAMBALAYA, SING ME BACK HOME, ETC.) - BUT, THE LYRICS "CALLED THE CHORUS" IN SUCH SONGS, ANSWER TO THE VERSE (OR ADD TO THE IDEA SET DOWN BY SAID VERSES) - EVER SING, "BLUE EYES CRYING IN THE RAIN", THE CHORUS(ES) GO FOR THE NEXT OCTAVE, HIGHER.

NOW, A "BRIDGE" IN A SONG NEVER FOLLOWS THE MELODY (SOME CHORUSES DO NOT EITHER.

  • @jehovahuponyou when i sing this, i like saying the first two parts, whatever theyre called. then whistle the melody once, then sing the last two. if i had accompaniment, id tell them to just play what they did for the first part five times in a row.

  • @jehovahuponyou if by ass, you mean that you used all caps, it's cool. lol. I hace one more question though, how can you say one part is a chorus and another part is a verse. they have the same melody? even the solo has the same basic structure to its melody. to me, it's just one continuous melody and it doesn't make sense to call one part a verse and another part a chorus.

  • @jehovahuponyou

ITS LIGHT SHINES FOR ME ONCE AGAIN. CHORUS (2nd) SOME DAY WHEN WE MEET UP YONDER, WE'LL STROLL HAND IN HAND AGAIN, IN A LAND THAT KNOWS NO PARTIN', BLUE EYES CRYIN' IN THE RAIN.

THAT IS THE WHOLE SONG - ADD AS MUCH LEAD/ISTRUMENTAL BREAKS AS YOU LIKE - BUT IF ONE IS TO SING THE WHOLE SONG, THERE IT IS.

THIS SONG WAS AROUND FOR YEARS BEFORE FLED BLOSE AND ROY ACLUCK LAID THEIR NAMES TO IT - IT WAS AN OLD MOUNTAIN TUNE - WVA.

    HOPE THSI HELPS, LORD BLESS!
