My Compaq 9000 series server rack cabinet has a 6 fan ventilation assembly, and this vid shows it's spool up and down. Sounds like a prop driven aircraft...or three...moves some serious air though.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, that's way outdated as far as being so empty. I have 2 servers, 2 24 port ethernet swithces, APC UPS 1000 and the various cabling in between ;D .

  • Nice rack! XD I love the sound the fans make! But isn't the Compaq 9000 supposed to have a door and sides? Did you just take them off?

  • @TroniPhile Yea, it was a full server rack cabinet, but I removed the sides since they would have blocked my bedroom window. I don't use the upper ventilation either, since it's so noisy.

  • like you need More noise

  • Sounds like an Airport lol

  • That's a lot of noise for a small room, I will put an air condition on that window instead those fans. I have 3 of those units from HP and I really don't like the noise that made.

  • I would guess there is no on/off switch because they never want the fans to go off and overheat the equipment right?

  • I've got the same rack but mine doesn't have the fans.
