Home Organization: Our HOME Filing System

Here is our home filing system. It took a long time to figure things out but I am happy at the outcome. Now everything is neat and orderly. We like to keep almost all of our paper documents. The key to successful filing is consistency and also detail to information.

Before shopping for your filing supplies, take a look at your files, how you want to categorize your files and what you're looking forward to achieving. Sometimes cheaper isn't always better if it doesn't fit your lifestyle. Some filing supplies can be on the more expensive side. However, it will be well worth it if your filing system can withstand the test of time and if it keeps everyhing streamlined.

@Legomamato6 Yes ma'am! I so agree. When we were having all of the fire scares in SD county it came to mind. We purchased one for about 40 from Walmart. I posted a video of it on my channel if you want to check it out. I need to put my jewelry in it like you suggested too.

Love your system! I wanted to offer a suggestion as a former military wife-invest in a fire proof storage box, just in case your home was ever to catch on fire, that main document folder would be safe-marriage license, id copies, POA & wills, passports, insurance-homeowners/renters, car and just any other really important papers. I also keep some of my special jewlery in mine. You can get a small one at for around $20-30. I've even seen one that holds file folders. Hope that helps you. Debi
