LAPD Chief William Bratton talks about gang crime in LA

While at a gang summit at the University of Southern California, Streetgangs.com caught up with LAPD Chief Bratton after he just completed his first calendar year of his new appointment.

Bratton believes that to bring Los Angeles up to speed, the LAPD should go from their 9,300 officers up to 15,000 - 18,000 officers to be on par with other large cities, specfically New York.

I like this! It shows an honest, thoughtful answer and question from citizen to Chief. There's no bias, there's no bullshit, and both people respect one another enough to be polite and thoughtful in their answers, while being honest and concerned at the same time. at some point, the police and sheriff department, and the politicians are going to have to do what was done to the gangs in New York. Automatic incarceration for anyone identified as a gang member and wearing gang colors. No need to wait for a criminal activity or profile, AUTOMATIC incarceration, that's the way to get rid of them

I am a big fan of William Bratton. He's a top cop.

I read his book TurnAround and how he used Broken Windows theory tactics. However i can critique some parts of broken windows aswell, i did an essay on it.
