Bollinger bands are about the best indicator you will ever use to help identify high probability trades.

Bollinger bands measure a standard deviation from the mean or middle. Usually the "mean" or middle is a 21 day moving averade of closing price.

So you would lay down a 21 day moving average and then a 2.0 standard deviation set of Bollinger bands and when price closed outside of either band it is said to have closed outside a 2 standard deviation band.

hey there, I quick question. when I add the bollinger bands the tool shows 3 lines. I also have the option to set the number of ticks as well as the standard derivation (set to 14 and 2 by default). Which are good settings to start on a 15 min chart and for what is the third line? thanks

@donkekis - I use 20 period and 2.0 standard deviations - the middle line is a 20 period moving averge or MEAN between both bands

Great Video, have a question though, when working with Bollinger Bands, what is the best time frame to use. If it varies, could you please give me some scenarios where I would use the 3 month, 1 month, 1 day - 5 minutes. etc.
