Men travelling alone in Shanghai pay close attention, many a fool has fallen into this trap.

(Shanghai, like most of China can either be a fantastic experience, or the worst experience of your life, I'm going to fill you in on some of the common and not so common scams / cons / tricks and nonsense, from silly to downright dangerous, Armed with this knowledge you should be able to avoid most of the pitfalls this city (and many other Chinese cities) can throw at you.)

In Canada I picked up a hot young woman in a dance club. Offered her a ride home. She kept saying she wanted to go to some "After Hours Club". I'm naturally paranoid and refused. She kept saying "What do I have to do to get you to go there?" which made me even more suspicious. I told her to stop asking. She asked again. I threw her out of the car in the worst part of our city that we were driving through. If you pick up a girl you take them to a place that YOU chose....not them.

cuz bad stuff happens everywhere. i was designated driver for a few friends

didn't get drunk but i was hanging out in a bar and i saw ppl get their money stolen from bar tenders and they were too drunk to notice.

one time 2 of my local friends from beijing went to another city, and they went to a ktv the one where you can call chicks to drink with you, they went inside and didnt like the girls there so they wanted to leave, during the time they were waiting for the girls, they ate a chocolate and had 2 cans of coke, so before they can leave, the guys asked them to pay for the coke and chocolate... guess what was the bill? 14,000RMB they had the room surrounded with heavies, and they had to pay up.
