Chisel Plowing Prevented Plant Acreage in ND - 2009

Chisel plowing prevented plant acreage originally intended for beans, taken only a few days ago in North Dakota. Ford/Versatile (Ford in color, we had Versatile put back on the sides) 846 and a POS Deere chisel plow that I'm going to enjoy horribly dismembering one day.

What's the problem with the chisel plow? Bad shanks again like back in the 70's?

Well this spring and right before this video was taken, I had at least 10 flat tires, all but maybe 4 or so needed complete replacing. Eight of those were on the same four wheels (the ones that face outwards from the center wheel sets and face inwards from the wing wheel sets). Not sure if this is bad design or layout, or if the flood gates are finally opening in relation to age. I lose half the chisels in the span of a week or two. I think its time for a replacement, this ones on its deathbed.

@9240ab You know I've never actually sat down and figured its fuel consumption out mainly because our fuel pump's gallon display doesn't work any more so its hard to say what we put in it for so many hours of work. From experience though, I will say its fairly fuel thirsty but we work it hard.
