  • I love the the little pauses and the way His Majesty says 'and women' at 0:36 :)

  • @mjlynn HM Queen Mary was the daughter of Princess Mary Adelaide of Cambridge (making HM Queen Mary a great-grand-daughter of George III). She was born in England and lived in the UK all her life. That makes HM fairly British! Yes, her father was a German prince, whence her title when she was young, 'Mary of Teck'. But HM Queen Mary was wholly British!

  • Is it just me or can anyone detect a slight accent in Queen Mary's voice? It would seem plausible since she was a German princess by birth but was born at Kensington Palace and spent most of her life in Britain. Maybe it's just me.

  • They were really 2nd cousins once removed. Queen Victoria and Mary Adelaide were first cousins because their fathers Edward and Adolphus were both sons of George III. That makes Edward VII and Queen Mary 2nd cousins, and Queen Mary and King George V then 2nd cousins once removed. In any case, it is so awesome to actually hear Queen Mary's voice, since she rarely made public addresses!

  • He looks exactly like the last tzar of Russian Empire Nicolas the second. They were cousins

  • We were very fortunate to have KIng George V and Queen Mary as our Monarchs. God Bless their Memory!

  • She was born Victoria Mary Augusta Louise Olga Pauline Claudine Agnes of Teck in Kensington Palace, London 1867. Her Father was Prince Francis of Teck & her Mother was Princess Mary of Cambridge (a Granddaughter of King George III ) and she belonged to the Royal House of Württemberg & Hannover.

So I think she is a 1st Cousin Once Removed of King George V.

  • This video leaves me speechless.

We sometimes forget that we are - as Queen Mary says - 'A world-wide family'

    Quite wonderful, well done iMonarchyC.

  • That was worth hearing. Thanks.
