This is just a test to see how the straight avi file from a dv tape looks on youtube, and if it will playback with a HQ or HD option

  • I have had this camera for two years now and at first i was really happy with it, but the output quality of the video is pretty poor and i have got it all on the best settings.

the camera just isn't worth the money these days.

  • @LewisSomerville You're right. Although i will say that i have got some great results out of mine over the years

  • i got the same camera

but i don't know how to get the video footage from the camera to my computer can you tell me the programs and equipment needed

I'm running windows vista on my machine if that makes a difference

  • There is a firewire connection in the back of the camera (where you pull the flap off and there is several other connections) It's a mini firewire connection. You'll need a firewire connection on your computer too though. When you hook the camera up to the PC for the first time switch it to PLAY mode and the PC should recognize it

  • Im looking at getting an XM2 for my music video business. It's either going to be the XM2 or the DVX100. Ive found the dvx100 to be a great little camera, with really clear and sharp colours. How do the 2 compare with each other?

  • I'm not totally familiar with the dvx100, but i gave a quick look at the specs and it seems very good. If you want to see what the XM2 looks like when it's upscaled to 720p search "Lough Gur - Frozen Over (Part 2)" in my uploads. For an aging camera the XM2 still has a lot of power

  • @SeanWrenn

I'm the same, but im going to sell up my Canon Xm2 and buy a Canon 60D (DSLR) as its a cheap alternative that provides excellent results!

And it leaves you with a great 18 megapixel stills camera.

  • ok thank you i'll give it a try

cause i was reading the manual and all it was giving me was instructions for photos

  • I agree - I was thinking of getting an X-Acti, since they are so cheap, just for general use & I'll be keeping the Canon I think :)

  • @alanstarkie2001 just stick with this camera. if you get a sanyo xacti you will lose out on all the great features on this camera
