"I might have been given a bad break...but I've got an awful lot to live for. Today I consider myself the luckiest man on the face of the earth."

Listen as Lou Gehrig speaks these soul-penetrating words upon his retirement from baseball. Gehrig played in 2,130 consecutive games with the NY Yankees. The streak ended when Gehrig became disabled with the fatal neuromuscular disease that claimed his life two years later.

This is one of the five touching stories you'll see on this video clip:

5. Gehrig's Farewell
4. Lance Rides Again
3. Fallen Hero
2. Paving the Way
1. Miracle on Ice

  • Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there, I do not sleep. I am in a thousand winds that blow, I am the softly falling snow. I am the gentle showers of rain, I am the fields of ripening grain. I am in the morning hush, I am in the graceful rush Of beautiful birds in circling flight, I am the starshine of the night. I am in the flowers that bloom, I am in a quiet room. I am in the birds that sing, I am in each lovely thing. Do not stand at my grave bereft I am not there. I have not left.
  • Every time I hear the radio announcers that yell " DO YOU BELIEVE IN MIRACLES?!" I get choked up.

  • @Firefighter5475 One of them was Al Michaels, yes the football announcer.

  • @nikemademybr You're poor spelling and grammar proves that you yourself are in fact a true fuck tard. Vladislav Tretiak only let in one late goal - and coach Viktor Tikhonov pulled him because of that. The whole Soviet hockey team even blamed the coach for costing them a gold medal.

  • @comradecommedy Funny how you still lost homie

  • I started getting tears down my eye after Pat Tillmans "Fallen Hero"

    R.I.P

  • @vinny3413 I completely blame it on the Soviet Coaches, they didnt let us use Vladislav Tretiak - the greatest Soviet goal tender of All Time, besides we have the more Gold medals :)
