Peak Moment 218: Futurist Guy Daunceyapos;s enthusiastic determination is absolutely infectious! The author of Climate Change: 101 Solutions to Global Warming sees multiple environmental crises descending on us all at once. He points to numerous historical examples of our coming together around critical issues. "We can do this!" he insists. We can "change, adapt, innovate and build an entire economy operating in harmony with nature." Tools like the internet and cellphones enable us to amplify organizing worldwide, so we can follow our ancestorsapos; lead in "not wimping out." [earthfuture.com]

I have--at least to me--a very important question. I've watched three videos today and two of them have completely different opinions. This gentleman says we need to go to vegetarianism. The Vegetarian Myth says we need to eat meat, veggies, a little fruit and very little corn, grains and rice (well, carbohydrates)? Who is correct? Who's data are we going to believe? The only agreement is the need for organic meat, veggies and grain. Healthy soil reduces carbon release.

You've named the conundrum. In my reading, there is increasing scientific support for the low carbohydrate diet as being healthier for humans. And some permaculturists, and food producers like Joel Salatin (see "The Straight Poop on Sustainable Farming" on our channel) are replenishing the soil, as nature does, making their methods sustainable. Annual plowing, esp. of cereal grains, has been creating deserts for many thousands of years from the middle east onwards.

Ok, watched it now I didn't like his WW II references. We are not free. That corporations are the problem. He is seemingly saying Gov't is the solution but don't corporations pay for politicians to get into office and give them "jobs" after they are in office?

He mention democracy as if we live in one. America is not a democracy. It is a polyarchy disguised in the cloak of a republic.

When did slavory become abolished? Not the wedding band, CCRD debts, or drug addictions. Real slavory. "The Pet" DVD stated 20 million slaves in 2006 (stats on the subject has diferent definitions and #'s) It is more that the same country that had military air transport in US during 911 also owned most of the slaves in the world and had close ties with US and England. I am more of the opinion that your statement that there are 0 slaves shows how the media is controled.

Democracy is 3 wolves and 2 sheep deciding whats for dinner. Mob rules. Anarchism is the individuals' rights are paramount and is founded in non-aggression. Democracy is like rape lite. It's still statism.

I think each of us need to listen to our bodies re:protein type and amount. The number 35% sticks in my mind for protein portions.

I understand you opinion on this. One person at a time. Perhaps we will be surprised. Janaia's channel is growing and I hope she produced a ton of new shows. She's benefitting us greatly with her enthusiasm. People ought to consider supporting her work with a little donation every now and then.

I agree with you, totally. I think Vermont has become the most democratic state in the country. Though, they have a long way to go. It isn't easy working against the corporations! Sometimes I think a quiet campaign of changing our lives to the point that we don't need any of the garbage they try to force on us. When the world opens it's eyes, they will demand change! I'm really working to get people to buy locally produced food and and American made SAFE products. Walk or Bike folks!

It is so nice to hear from paople who aren't opposed to eating meat. Maybe some folks are fine with Vegan or Veggie lifestyles. I am glad for them because it is far more inexpensive to eat that way. I think I have overdone the meat balance and plan on lowering the level a little at a time until I am at the 25% level. I really appreciate your response. I am just learning today about the email box! Been doing Youtube for 3 years. Oh well, just getting old, I guess. HaHa

May i suggest we fix the monetary system and we will take away the need for people to exploit each other for profit. (Scarcity = Profit) . In other words, If we have a complete representation of our own promissory obligations to each other, that would allow everyone to create things that last, instead of making a quick sale from inferior goods. Address the source of the problem and everything else will fall into place. OIL IS NOT THE SOURCE ! Mathematically Perfected Economy..watch?v=HQ7t7lY30b0
