Piya plays Peter Frampton's "Do You Feel Like We Do" on ZETA Electric Violin, Heil Talkbox

This is my latest project - a cover of Peter Frampton's famous Talkbox song, "Do You Feel Like We Do". Please feel free to post comments or send me a message at piyaunplugged@gmail.com. The violin I'm using is a ZETA, Boyd Tinsley signature model. The amp is a Mesa Boogie Lone Star Special, 2x12 stack. The voice box is a Heil Talk Box. Recorded using a JVC Everio GZ-MG670 camcorder along with Ableton Live 7 LE recording software.

Wow!! Awesome playing!! I'm looking at getting an electric violin, and wanted to know if you have had any suggestions of brand. My price range is anywhere up to 2,000 or so, and I really would like to get a nice one :-). I looked at the Zeta Boyd Tinsley signature, but otherwise am really looking for suggestions!! I checked out Jensen and Jordans as you mentioned to the other poster, but I wanted to see what else you had known of.

Thanks GMAN! Just a few thoughts for you . . . I can't talk much about other brands, being that I only own a ZETA BTS (Boyd Tinsley Signature) and a Jordan (seven-string).  I've had great luck with both instruments - they are well built and reliable, and are capable of producing a wide variety of sounds. I would be weary, though, of those cheap knock-offs you see on eBay going for ~$300 and under . . .

(continued) The quality of the instrument if directly related to the quality of its components. Also, keep in mind that you will need a number of high-quality analog pedals (compressor, tone boost, delay, chorus, etc.) as well as a good amplifier (I use a Mesa Boogie Lone Star Special) to create great sounds, ie, the violin itself is only a piece of the puzzle.

HOLY CRAP! I'm blown away! I love frampton's talkbox version of the song but on an electric violin it just sounds amazing! There's just something about a talkbox and electric violin which makes a freakishly awesome combo.
