  • This is a very nice "coverup" documentary for Amoco. My family lived and still does, near the area. There is no mention that cattle and wildlife was aborting from this, health issues that occured from this. There were no birds around for years after this for a large radius. Testicular cancer has increased tremendously in the years since. There were public town hall meetings where Amoco sent their best pr reps etc claiming no such occurences but ask any localsand you'll get the facts.

  • I'm looking at the wellhead right now. The lease is owned by apache canada, and it still flows 150-180 dec of gas a day. The relief well @ 08-14-48-12w5 is just the same, as well as the first brazeau area blow out well @ 07-10-48-12w5. I operate these wells every day for the past 5 years. Absolutely stunning place to work with a lot of history. Good vid!

  • I toured that rig in 1981 near Bearberry, Alberta. Not sure if it was the same Toolpush at Lodgepole.

  • I have a friend who worked in the petroleum industry in the '80s, and he was told that when the blowout occured, the 3000 m drill rod was shot out like spaghetti through the top of the well.

  • Amoco is part of BP. I guess neither can drill a well without causing trouble.

  • I was 12 years old when this happened, my dad worked there when it blew and was there when they capped it. It was nasty in Drayton Valley before they lit the well. I have loads of pics that my dad took from the helicopter.

  • Thanks for posting this, it''s a bit old, but a great video
