HOW TO MAKE ICE CREAM AT HOME EASY(Ice And Salt Experiment & Thermal Insulators) SCIENCE EXPERIMENT
Crazy Chris is show you how to make ice cream right at home you can have a treat that beats the heat!
Objective: To understand the freezing point of ice and thermal insulators.
Materials Needed:
~ 2 - 3.8L zipping bags
~ 1 - sandwhich bag
~ 250mls of Half & Half
~ Powdered Sugar
~ Vineal
~ Chocoalate Powder
~ Ice
~ Salt
Step 1) Get a 3.8L plastic zipping bag and ulternate putting in ice cubs and a layer of salt.
Step 2) Fill your sandwhich bag with 250mls of Half & Half and then add 6 spoon fulls of powdered sugar. Then zip it shut.
Step 3) Now place your ice cream baggy inside a second 3.8L plastic zipping bag and place this bag of ice.
Step 4) Now wrap this with a towel and and then shake this for 20-30MINS or untill the mixture is hard.
Step 5) Remove the ice craem from the bags get a spoon and enjoy your home made ice cream.
HOW DOES IT WORK:
Normally water freezes at 0 degrees C how ever salt water freezes at a lower tempreture which is good for making ice cream. As the ice melts in the bag the salt disolves in the melted water. Since the salt adds more molecules to the water, the ice cant capture the water molecules to freeze them. This causes the freezing point of water to go down 2 about -4 degresses C and refreezes the water. The milky mixture freezes because the ice steal heat energy from milky mixture. With salt in the ice this does causes the ice to to loose heat energy quicker which is why people put salt on icy and snowy roads. Thermal insulators work by reducing the effects of heat transfer between matter as well as slowing the transfer of heat radiation into and out of matter. The towels keep the ice cold in the same way a jacket keeps you warm in the winter. Jackets have air pockets in them and its these air pockets that slow the transfer of heat away from matter. Air molecules are far aprt so it takes more energy to loose heat through jackets and clothing. Just like the towels creates air pockets slowing the loss of heat energy from the ice.

can i use any kind of salt or does it has to be rock salt? is sea salt ok?
amounkisses 2 months ago
@amounkisses I used regular table salt and this worked perfectly fine for me so you certainly can use sea salt. But for the amount of sae salt your gunna need its gunna cost you alot of money. So instead use regular table salt which is pretty much cheap to buy cause you gotta pour alot of salt.
