Amtrak California Zephyr in the Reno Trench from Get Trackside by Train Arts of Nevada

This is from the GET TRACKSIDE series. These are the first railroad videos I shot and assembled. They used to be posted on YouTube, but later I deleted the account. I would like to re-post them here to show some of my original work. These are some of the first videos I made with a Canon HV Hi-Def camera.

Here we see an eastbound California Zephyr #6 running through Mogul, Nevada on the way into the Reno Trench. It stops, lets passengers on and off, then takes off up the hill into Sparks, Nevada. Soon after that the westbound #5 California Zephyr rolls into the Reno Trench from Sparks.

At the end of the video I show a short clip of the freight train waiting on the other track as it takes off into Sparks. I included this because you can hear the slack tightening as the couplers bang on the cars going to the back of the train. I love this sound.

In this video, as in many of my Get Trackside videos, I recorded and included scanner traffic so you get an idea of what the engineers are hearing and saying.

starting at 1:25 the amtrak engineer is washing the windshield over and over.

Oh, ok. No, though - I took it from Denver to Emeryville. It was downright awesome. Though, it was a little jolty at night, but I got at least 4-5 hours of sleep, so it was fine. :)
