Short clip taken by Mamady during class at the Mini-Guinea workshop, San Diego, 27 October 2009. The rhythm is Balakulania. Mamady had great fun laughing at us struggling with this technique :-)

  • Yes, "Balakulanjan" is how it's in the book. But I've also come across "Balakulania", "Bala Kulandyan", and "Balakulandjan". I guess that's the problem with not having a standard for the phonetic spelling of West African words.
