@JcmdiStockFootage You have to set a short timer for your screen(it consumes a lot of battery life), go to Custom Setting Menu>Timers/AE lock>Auto Off timers> Custom..
I am using the same camera and I did a Timelapse of 3hours with the built-in intervalometer! so it's not really about your battery..

@tmick990990 Yes, it does - but after a number of attempts to use it, I found that it would only take a few hundred images before the camera shut down on its own. Plenty of battery life left, all auto-off timers disabled, and still it wouldn't run for more than 30 minutes or so. However, an external shutter trigger/timer (intervalometer) worked just great (for several hours+) and was easier to use/program as well. Problem solved =) Cheers!

There were four artificial satellites, no shooting stars.

@SoUtterlyIrrelevant those are not shooting stars. They are most likely the ISS or satellites.

That's COOL! fk you!! XD

@PhotoEasel Thanks for the tip - I'll look in to that. :-) There's got to be some simple dumb thing causing this, and I would like to get it working in addition to the external one. I was already pretty sure it wasn't the battery, since even after several surprise shut-downs (roughly 30 minutes/300 frames) I could still power it right back up and try again, over and over with the battery still showing plenty of charge. Hmmm frustrating! XD
