Ok, its not bulletproof, but this is how I help lengthen the life of my RC car/truck/buggy bodies.

This works on painted bodies too, however some paints may not react well to the shoe goo, so be sure to test a small area first, Translucent colors especially.

I realize it is hard to see white tape and glue on a white body. Hopefully it's still helpful.

There are many ways to do it, this is my way. On the SC trucks, when I've put alot of tape and multiple tubes of shoe goo on, it lasts longer, but the truck feels top heavy. I keep it thin and light to improve the life, but keep it light.

Yes, you are correct. Not sure why I was calling it fiberglass tape. My brand has fiberglass strands, but, it IS drywall tape. Thanks for correction

interesting method! I've always put the goo down first, in small sections. then used a bit of rounded plastic to press the fiber tape on to the goo "bed" (similar to how you lay down fiber glass or carbon fiber). This looks quicker though! How long do the bodies last? I get about 1 year (plus touch-up gooing, with a winter break) of hard bashing before they just fall apart. If this is close... I'm switching.

I would say give this method a try. My bodies have been lasting a long time. I do some repairs sometimes by adding more in the realy trouble spots, but its definitely alot stronger

Nice video dude, I learned to do the exact same thing lol. I just used a whole big tube of shoe goo for my new HPI Blitz body. Sure it will make it a bit heavier, but honestly its not really going to slow down the truck.

lol, i tried this using the thicker of the two thicknesses of drywall tape that home depot carries and it wouldn't stick worth a sh*t and going around a bend, forget about it. So i just shoe-goo'd the entire body without the drywall tape and I think it holds up just as good. Maybe i'll get some of the thinner tape next time and hopefully that will stick...
