I think it's a song talking about how Americans don't know the true happenings in other countries and that if we knew more about the world we would know what to actually react to and care about, less "superior" propaganda and more honesty among all peers would change everyone. Then he's talking about how society doesn't bother him because they just laugh and calls the things he says are just crazy lies so no one will believe him and he will just look like he is insane because of more brain wash.

Ah, yes. the 1956 Abbey Road truly was the pinnacle of his Ska career. Immigrant song was my least favorite on that album, though.

I get a very similar message from this song, and I find it sadly easy to relate to it lol.

I disagree on on your interpretation of the song talking about America's society. I think he's talking about his experience with the world rather than an observation on the world itself. To me it transmits more of a feeling of a saddled horse or tired Don Quixote who can't find his windmills anymore. Only the author could tell us what he intended to tell us in his song so all we can really do is speculate; through my view, it is a rather relatable experience to most of us former punks/activist.

My two cents on it is that the song is about surrender; the singer, weary of the long, fruitless struggle between him and society, decides to give into it, declaring that he has "noone to blame, nothing to change, no evil to fight." He goes on to describe two places that need change, that have evil to fight, but he's not bummed out. Even though he knows that society should bother him, it doesn't. But he's not going to do anything about it because he's all out of angst.
