...or, come to think of it, "The Pride of Bucktown"!

This is cool... but surely you should have a video of you playing Tiger Rag!

@xeltifon No. Joplin specifically marked it "Tempo di Marcia". It's supposed to be peppy, as most ragtime is. Listen to a recording of "Stars & Stripes Forever", a march that came out around the same time as this. Compare the speed of the bass notes to Maple Leaf. That's march tempo. Joplin wouldn't have considered this tempo to be "fast" either. You have to get into the 120 bpm range for that.

lmao HOW CUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTE :D

HEH.. this almost makes me want to start playing again.. Although in my current living condtions IDK where i'd stick the babygrand :(

I really love it, thanks for the nice performance

Joplin *is* classical; I don't *care* what anyone else says.
But if I may humbly recommend a downright *brilliant* player of Chopin, his name is Maurizio Pollini, though you probably already know his work. I believe he's recorded on Deutsche Grammophon (or however you spell it).
I reiterate -- your performance was fine. All the more for being in suit. But *everyone* speeds up Joplin. Dunno why, but there you have it. Just think of his work as a cake walk.
:) :)
Be well,
xeltifon
Not saying I can do better -- 'cause I can't (yes I've tried) -- least of all in a fursuit -- but didn't Scott Joplin *specifically* mark the tempo "not fast"?
Heck -- at least you're in the good company of some of the best pianists out there -- *everyone* rushes the Maple Leaf. Go figure.
;^) ;^)

I don't know... the one recording I have heard of Scott Joplin playing this song, was faster than I played it.

If you heard Scott Joplin himself playing this, you were more likely than not listening to a piano roll he recorded of himself, pumped and played by someone else. Unless, of course, you happened to be pumping the roll through your own player piano. And lots of variables in player piano technology tend to lead to overfast playback.
I reiterate -- *everyone* who's recorded this song seems to play it fast.
Forgive my saying so, but Joplin is this country's Chopin. Still loved it. Be well xeltifon

Good point on Joplin not really playing the recording himself. :)
Honestly, I originally tried to record it slower than that... as I knew it was supposed to be a little slower... but I felt more comfortable playing it at that speed... *shrug*
I need to learn more classical stuff... as well as learn the rest of the Entertainer...

Awsome! that's a really hard song to play, I know, I've tried, expecally by ear.
Keep up the great work!
