Mandolin Rain - Bruce Hornsby with Ricky Skaggs (live Nashville, Feb 18, 2012)

Bruce Hornsby closed out his amazing set w/ special guest Ricky Skaggs. They performed at Schermerhorn Symphony Center in Nashville, TN on 2/18/2012.

Several times throughout the night, Bruce made reference to his live performances appearing on YouTube, despite the warning to not film the performance. Many other would-be filmers were asked to put the phones down. I think I did a pretty damn good job considering the high level of security. That's LOVE baby, and about the only way I can enjoy going to concerts is to SHARE my favorite artists with the world! Now buy the Bruce & Ricky duet album!

"Mandolin Rain" was originally released on the 1986 album "The Way It Is" -- debut album and commercial zenith for Bruce Hornsby and the Range. The song, released in late 1986, was a #4 hit single for the band in March 1987.

I love the way Bruce is smiling at the end as if to say, I love how improvisational this is. It's not exactly how I thought it would sound, but, eh, whaddya gonna do?
