are you missing a processor?? I don't remember if the 1.6GHz was dual or single. but you don't own it anymore so it's no big deal

What are your specs?
-
@aflockofmusic2 no thats bull shite mate, yeah maybe the processors were better, but everything else was better,
-
its a mac enough said there junk get a real machine bro
-
mobo is bad
you will hear clicking when psu is bad
-
ALSO IT COULD BE BECAUSE OF The PSU(Powersupply Unit) or crack up CpU(No working cpu) the liquid cooling system leak and fried the logic board
-
how much did u sell this G5 FOR
-
@insaneiaq I wish that were true, but the bench scores don't lie, i've tested my theory, and sadly the single G5 is no match for dual G4.
The G5 1.6 and 1.8 were pointless when they came out because the previous Dual G4 Powermacs were still faster. (the dual 1.25 and dual 1.42)

@aflockofmusic2 Maybe in some application, but the G5 introduced 64 bit processors that allowed more than 2GB of faster RAM than the G4, a FSB that ran at 800MHz + over the 167MHz bus on the G4. 8x AGP instead of 4x and so on. The G4's had their own advantages, but the G5 was a leap into the future with all these things plus SATA drives and 64 bit processors.

This is unrelated to your problem, but is this a good computer when it is working fine? Thanks

I got it like this, but the G5's are great computers. I was really pissed I never got to fix the thing. I'd still sell my MacBook Pro for a quad G5 if I found one for the right price.

your logic board has gone out. the reason why no other fans are going up is because they are getting no power, or they could have got to much power and.... died. The CPU is fin because it has all the lights and hard drive go and such. But the logic board is gone. very expensive repair. have fun and good luck.

Ya, thats what I figured. I've actually since sold the computer because I realized it wasn't something that was worth fixing. Its a shame how much it costs to get a G5 repaired.
