Wolves vs Elk vs Grizzly

The Canyon wolf pack of Yellowstone Park in the fall of 2008 took down a large bull elk and were feeding on the carcass when a large grizzly bear came and took control of it. The wolves made a small attempt at reclaiming their prize, but that's a big bear! Michael Waller, a professional photographer from Texas took the pictures, and with his permission, I made this short slideshow with the music "Wolves" playing from Manheim Steamroller.

There is not much a pack of wolfes can do when a grown Grizzly comes in and wants the carcass. They can try to irritate it enough to leave, but usually they have to find something else to eat.

Wildlife people in Yellowstone say that after wolfes make a kill, its not a question if the Grizzly comes to claim their food- but when.
