you should have used my 4 bit plugin for mmc64.
it plays at 44.1khz but without this annoying noise....

does the mmc add any additional ram to the system or just works as a really fast disk ?

@Dreamlgider I do not think that it adds RAM to the C64 that can used by programs (I think it has some RAM for the firmware and d64-images). Even if it adds RAM to the C64, the RAM is not needed by the raw-player because it only needs a few KB and loads the audio data directly from the sd card. The MMC replay is a SD-card reader which provide a filebrowser, can load plugins, mount d64 files (but has no 1541 emulation) and can act as a cartridge like retro replay, action replay etc.

@Dreamlgider Yes, the raw-plugin uses the SID to play the music, no additional audio hardware needed.
